In our last letter we shared that after much evaluation, prayer and counsel we have determined that God is leading us into a new ministry with New Mission Systems International.   We want to let you know more about our new ministry, about NMSI and how you can continue or begin to support our ministry.

New Mission Systems International – Founded in 1989 New Mission Systems International exists to facilitate the planting and maturing of churches, particularly in those hard to access and post-Christian areas of the world.  NMSI seeks to identify the missing components in a prospective ministry.  We then provide the missing pieces that will enable the ministry to flourish.  To help you get to know more about NMSI we have enclosed a short informational brochure.

Our Ministry – We will be serving as the Director and Associate Director of Spiritual Formation for NMSI.  Our role is similar to providing specialized pastoral care to the missionaries, staff, interns and missionaries-in-training.  Our responsibilities will include being in regular contact (by email & phone) with missionaries on the field, field visits, providing accountability, writing a weekly devotional, and developing curriculum and providing resources to be used in the spiritual and personal development of NMSI’s missionaries and interns.  We will also be one of those in the mission agency available to go to the field as needed to help missionaries walk through family or personal crisis.  We will work out of Tucson (for up to two years) but we expect to eventually move to Fort Myers to develop a mentoring program for new missionaries and interns.

August 19 – 23 we will have our first meeting of NMSI department heads in Fort Myers.  Our first international trip will be to Myanmar (formerly Burma) in October.  The entire mission has a two-week conference once every three years where they bring all of their missionaries together.  This is the year for that conference and it is being held in Myanmar.  This will be our first opportunity to actually meet everyone face to face.  We will also have a major part in planning and giving input to this time.

Our Needs – We will continue to need your support both in prayer and financially.  NMSI is a faith-based organization and every NMSI missionary is responsible for raising all of the funds needed to cover salary, medical benefits, travel and ministry expenses.   Both our monthly and one time needs will be increasing because of our additional travel expenses.  We estimate that our trip to Myanmar in October will cost about $5100.

We are very thankful for all of you who have faithfully supported our ministry with Campus Crusade.  We ask that you transfer your support to our ministry with New Missions Systems International beginning in July.  We have enclosed an envelope and a commitment card for you to use.

If you have not been supporting our ministry, would you prayerful consider supporting us on a regular basis?  Use the enclosed commitment card to indicate your desire and return it in the envelope provided.

We are very excited about this opportunity to serve internationally in a vital way with New Missions Systems.  We greatly appreciate your prayers, encouragement and support!!
