God, Adam, Eve in the garden in perfect fellowship

                                                                Genesis 1

Fall of Man      Every single thing is now broken, mankind is as bad off as we could possibly be

                                Genesis 3

                                Results of the fall:

SHAME  FEAR  SORROW  HURT  GUILT  BROKENNESS  LONLINESS  ALIENATION  LOST

All these are conditions/emotions I can you and I can do nothing about they all render us…

HELPLESS

We develop ways to deal with the results

            CONTROL/FIX

SIN     (Sin fixes the fall temporarily – short-term)

We use food, sex, money, etc. as an alternative to shame, sorrow, etc

SINS of RELIEF (Self-medicate)                                   SINS of REVENGE

                                   Lust                                                                                        Anger

                                   Adultery                                                                              Hostility

Appetite (over eat, $, things)                                     Rage

                                   Addictions (Drugs, alcohol, etc…)                              Murder

                                   Covet/Steal/Greed/Escape

We cannot fix (heal) ourselves.  We have to trust God and others to provide what we need.

For shame we need covering; fear – security; sorrow – comfort; hurt – healing; guilt – forgiveness; brokenness – healing; loneliness – someone to be with; alienation – home; lost – found.  These are all things that we must trust God for and they are all things Jesus has provided.
