Krepps Update - August 23, 2003

Greetings in Christ!

Thank you so much for praying for me while on my trip to the Middle East.  The trip went very well.  Though I never felt I was in any danger there were many times I sensed that I was being strengthened and supported by the prayers of God’s people.

I was able to gain much insight into the life, ministry, and needs of Skip and Bonnie, our affiliates in North Africa.  The highlight was perhaps the day Bonnie and I spent visiting her special Muslim friend and her mother in their homes.  It was encouraging to see the quality of relationships Bonnie had built with these women.

Another highlight was spending an evening with a group of young people Skip and Bonnie are ministering to who grew up in a Christian orphanage and are now out on their own.  From Skip and Bonnie, the rest of the group, and a relationship with the Lord they are gathering the strength to face life as adults without having the foundation of a true childhood.

From North Africa I flew to visit a dear friend who is working in a more conservative Islamic country.  In North Africa, though a large percentage of Muslim women cover themselves with long cloaks and headscarves, we were able to be culturally appropriate by wearing long slacks and blouses with sleeves.  In my friend’s country all women wear long black coats and head coverings in public so we did too.  In addition, most women wear face veils, revealing only the eyes.  The lives of men and women in this culture are very segregated.

While this part of my trip was not officially for New Mission Systems, it helped me in my new ministry in two important ways.  I gained many additional insights into Islamic culture and thinking which will be helpful as New Mission Systems expands.  Secondly, I was able to gain some experience in participating in a culture which is very different than mine and even challenging, and still do well enough to encourage the person I was visiting!  Thank you so much for praying!

Bob has been to Fort Myers July 25 – 31 for the de-brief conference attended by all summer interns returning from international projects.  What great things God did!  We will share more in a future letter.  He returned yesterday from a week of annual planning meetings for the Home Office Team in Fort Myers.  He gave a devotional for the group each morning and met with individuals after the day’s meetings were over.  My trip to Bulgaria is on hold due to some unanticipated personnel changes there.

Thank you so much for partnering with us as we minister to those who are taking the gospel to “the uttermost parts of the earth.”

                                                                           Sincerely in Christ,

                                                                          Bob & Anne Krepps
